Maitland Private Hospital has a Medical Advisory Board whose major functions are to:
- Provide a means whereby members of the medical staff can participate in the policy making and planning processes of the hospital
- Advise on appropriate clinical practices
- Assist in identifying the health needs of the community and the appropriate services which may be required to meet these needs
- Oversee the ethical and professional conduct of currently practising accredited medical practitioners at the hospital
Membership of the committee comprises:
- Chief Executive Officer/Director of Nursing
- Accredited medical practitioners representing at least four surgical specialties
- Anaesthetist
- General practitioners
- Physicians
- Rehabilitation specialist
The committee meets quarterly; members and the chairman are elected to the committee at the Annual General Meeting.
